‘The Aesthete’ – Medium Neck Strap for Medium Format and Larger Cameras

With the Aesthete we wanted to make a customisable strap for Medium format and TLR/WLVF (Waist Level View Finder) cameras that feature heritage strap fixtures. It can be hard to find a strap that matches the aesthetic of the camera, but that also fits the camera securely. After a lot of research and prototyping we settled on a variation of our Maverick strap that accommodates the weight and shooting style of cameras with waist level viewfinders, a slimmed down version of our popular Maverick Strap with a 30mm wide neck piece, slimmer than the 40mm one used on the Maverick.

This strap is completely hand-crafted by our in-house, experienced leatherworker. We use what many believe to be the world’s finest leather for this application, high-quality Horween leather from the USA. The reason? It’s so much softer then most English leathers, making it perfect for a stylish, yet comfortable and durable camera strap. It features beautiful ‘pull-up’ giving a lovely patina after even a little use. All of the leathers we use are also ‘hot stuffed’, which is a process that involves nourishing and conditioning the leather with unrefined oils and greases achieving a richer feel and a lower susceptibility to water damage. So no need to be overly precious about taking it out in the rain.

The Aesthete is made with traditional hand-finished saddler’s copper rivets, sourced here in the UK. The split rings (if you select that option for your strap) used on our camera straps are solid brass, instead of cheaper alternatives. This is to ensure that our camera straps last you as long as possible.

Sizing: The Aesthete comes in a wide range of lengths which are; 25.5”/65 cm / 29.5″/75cm | 34″/85cm | 37″/95cm | 41″/105cm | 47″/120cm | 50″/130cm. The neck piece on this strap is 30mm wide. See the ‘Maverick’ strap for a wider neck piece at 40mm.

Monogramming: We also now give you the option to add something personal to your strap with our monogramming option. If you select our this option for your strap we recommend you don’t have more than ten characters.

Camera Connector Compatibility: We offer several strap connection options which can be seen in the drop down at the top of the listing, if you’re unsure what connector you need please contact me via shop@heathandhind.com or via our Instagram (@heathandhind) before purchasing. 

If you have a camera with a less common strap connection method like a Rolleiflex or old Bronica but you have a pair or connector compatible with your camera you can select the ‘Custom’ Option in the drop down and when we receive your order well get in touch to help you organise delivery so we can make your strap with your own clips.
